There were some new faces at Croft Park for Blyth Spartans’ 2-0 win over Frickley Athletic on Tuesday night.

The club’s award-winning media team welcomed three sports writers from national newspapers as part of their annual press night.

The guests were Simon Bird of the Daily Mirror, the Daily Star’s Ian Murtagh and George Caulkin from the Times.

Spartans media manager Phil Castiaux said: “It is very important for a club like ourselves to open up to all sections of the media and we have achieved some notable feats over the last 18 months.

“We were delighted to welcome three highly respected journalists from national publications and we hope they enjoyed their visit to Croft Park, they certainly seemed to bring us some luck and saw a good performance from the lads.

“We hope to see them at Croft Park again in the near future.”

Before leaving the trio were on hand to have their picture taken with Spartans vice-chairman Kevin Scott, senior press officer Mark Carruthers and the club’s Evo-Stik League PR Club of the Year award.
