New Hartley Juniors’ recent run of good form hit a halt in Durham at the weekend with a 2-1 defeat at unbeaten Lampton Street.
The game, spoilt by high winds, saw Hartley come close on 20 minutes when they hit the post, but after early pressure it was a stroke of luck which put Lampton ahead when a right wing cross saw Hartley skipper Dan Hall put into his own goal.
The second half saw Lampton gunning for a second but found Gary Hayes in the Hartley goal in fine form until the 70th minute when he was beaten with a good strike.
But Hartley never gave up and pulled one back with the ‘goal of the game’ as Ryan Drane scored from 20 yards, but the Wearsiders hung on to claim all three points.
This Saturday sees Hartley make the short trip to Wallsend Boys Club for a Durham County Cup tie with a 1.30pm kick-off.
