New Hartley Juniors kept a tight grip on the NFA Junior Cup after beating Bedlington Terriers 2-0 in the final held at Whitley Park in Benton.

There was nothing between the two Under 18 sides until a Curtis Coppen penalty broke the deadlock on 40 minutes.

The second half was the same with both sides going close but it was a fine strike ten minutes from time by Luke Javis Smith that put the game beyond Terriers’ reach to make it 2-0 to give Hartley the victory that made up for last week’s cup final defeat against Ryhope.

It was the sixth year running Hartley have won this cup and goes with the league championship trophy which was won last month.
