New Hartley Juniors are the new holders of the John Maley Trophy after beating league champions Lampton Street at Nissan Sports ground.

The trophy was named after the late John Maley, Hartley’s secretary who passed away three years ago after running the team for 53 years.

As expected it was a hard fought match against Lampton, who had taken four points from Hartley in the two league outings this season.

It took 44 minutes for the deadlock to be broken and it was Hartley’s Joe Besford that scored with a superb overhead kick to give them a half-time lead.

The second half was much the same and again it was the 44th minute of the half when Oli Ure doubled Hartley’s lead to make it 2-0 and clinch the cup.
