Newbiggin faced Wallsend Boys Club on Saturday for a place in the final of the Divisional Bay Plastics Combination Cup.
Newbiggin have always had good cup runs over the past few years and were looking to keep that run going.
The Seasiders found themselves 1-0 up after seven minutes when Gary Bailes’s floated cross from the right was met by the head of Michael Angus whose looping header found the back of the net.
Newbiggin continued to pile pressure onto Wallsend to extend the lead but the first half remained 1-0.
Wallsend were given a great opportunity to get back into the game on 64 minutes when they were awarded a penalty, duly despatched by their striker into the far right corner.
And in a dramatic turnaround were given a second penalty just a minute later, but the effort went the same way, only to be saved spectacularly by Craig Towart.
With 17 minutes left in the game Newbiggin took the lead again. A free kick just over half way by Bailes was headed home by John Bone.
Wallsend continued to pile the pressure on looking for an equaliser, but Newbiggin defended well and held on for the win.
Newbiggin will now face Ponteland United in the final after they beat Gosforth Bohemians 2-0 in the other semi final.
