AFC Newbiggin were in league action again on Saturday and came away from Newcastle Chemfica with all three points.
Kev Halliday thought he had given Newbiggin the lead after only five minutes, but the effort was disallowed by the referee despite protests from the away team.
But there was no denying the visitors and in the 12th minute they went in front.
Craig Penny whipped the ball in from the left hand side and Michael Hogg’s shot was saved by the keeper but Richie Morris was on hand to tuck away the rebound.
Newbiggin continued to pile pressure on Chemfica and the home team did nott seem to trouble the away side.
Midway through the second half Hogg beat the offside trap and looped the ball over the keeper from outside the box to score his first for Newbiggin and make it 2-0 on the day.
Five minutes from time a Halliday ball set up Morris for his second of the game and third in two games.
Shortly after Ross Muter finished the game off as he found the bottom corner.
Newbiggin were dominant from start to finish as they prepare for this weekend’s NFA Minor Cup semi-final against Hazelrigg Victory, where they look to defend the trophy they won last season Saturday’s game at Newbiggin Sports Centre kicks-off at 1.30pm.
