Newbiggin take advantage of fewer numbers

IN the Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League premier division, Ashington Mortimer and Newbiggin just managed to fields teams, although Mortimer had to play the whole game with ten men.

And the numerical disadvantage took its toll as the game went on as the Newbiggin 11 took full advantage to gain maximum points with a 4-1.

Trevor Newman scored for Mortimer but goals from Michael Hogg, Darren Burn, Mason Armstrong and Thomas Stephes saw Newbiggin home.

Burradon also won away when they defeated Blyth Comrades 3-0.

Daniel Young, Craig Johnson and Paul Alexander were the men on target.

The only game in division one saw New Delaval and Newsham beat Ashington White Hous 5-3.

Goals for Newsham came from Ian Locke, Kevin Turner, Dean Shortt, Richard Orr with Steven Rennison (2) and Dylan McLean on target for White House.

In division two Ashington Bubbles clinched runners-up spot with at home to Bay Horse Cramlington as they won 10-0.

Kris Allington and Craig Penny both scoring five goals apiece.

Bedlington Community had to come from two down at home against Newsham Willow Tree before winning 4-2.

Goals from Joe Rose and Michael Mills put Willow Tree ahead, but Community finaly got themselves going and Antonie Harrison (2), Jamie Graham and Richard Stobbart strikes turned it in their favour.
