Newbiggin through to last four of the cup

NEWBIGGIN booked their place in the last four of the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League SA Randolph Cup.

They beat premier division basement side Milbourne Arms 4-0.

Goals for Newbiggin came courtesy of doubles from Colin McElland and Steven Sanderson.

New Hartley moved into the semi-final of the Eric Anderson Cup with a 3-1 win away to Bedlington Community.

In a close game it was the better finishing of Hartley which won the day.

Scoring for Community was Richard Stobbart while Scott Evans, Jamie Heathcoat and Clark Gunn were on target for the winners.

Round one of the JD Marnock Cup saw league form turned upside down when Blyth Seahorse went down 6-1 at home to New Delaval and Newsham.

Scoring for Seahorse was Brian Gabbitas with a penalty, but a Jeff Fuller hat-trick and an Ian Locke double, along with the goal of the game from Richard Orr won it.

Cramlington Phoenix had a fine 4-0 win away to Marden Residents to avenge an earlier league defeat.

Goals for Phoenix came from doubles for Jonathan Harland and Michael Don.

An improved performance from Newsham Black Diamond in their home game against Ashington White House saw them go down by the odd goal in three.

David Lillico scored for Diamond with Alan Brown and Steven Rennison on target for White House.

An entertaining game between league leaders Ashington Grand and High Street ended all square 3-3.

High Street were in control 3-1 until the final ten minutes when Grand pulled two back to level.

Scoring for Street was Alan Goldie, Adam Emmerson and Jason Smart. Goals for Grand came from Luke Bunting, Paul Hedley and Daniel Donnelly.

Another side who had an excellent win was Whitley Lodge Kittiewake who beat Cowpen Percy Arms 5-1.

On target for Kittiewake were Jonny Storrey and Chris Appleby with two each. Gavin Hattrick also made the scoresheet while Kyle Walker scored for Percy.

Who is going to stop Kris Allington scoring this season?

He his five in his side’s 15-2 home win against AE Phoenix.

Other scorers were Craig Penny (4), Daniel Hislop (2), Paul Archer (2), Che Aisbitt and Aaron Frazer.

Even though they were well beaten, Phoenix still kept going until the end and were rewared with two goals from Lionel Ginger and Alex Richardson.

Ashington Central went down at home 4-1 against North Shields Royal Arms.

Royal have now closed the gap on Central who are still top, though Royal have games.

Jason Wilson scored for Central while Joni Brown, Alan Batiste, Nicky Thompson and Lee Kelly were on target for the winners.

Bay Horse and Ridley Park were level untill two late strikes saw the Bay Horse clinch the points with a 5-3 win.

Goals for Horse came from Michael Walton (3), John Leonard and Jamie Summers, while Steven Davison (2) and Alan Fairbairn were on target for Ridley.

Three sides from the league are in NFA Minor Cup action on Sunday.
