With persistent rain falling all week on already waterlogged pitches, the Northern Alliance programme took another heavy hit this afternoon.

All Premier Division matches fell foul of the weather.

DIVISION ONE

Kev Bell’s double for Wooler was cancelled out by two Dan Clements strikes for Newcastle Uni in a promotion-chasing clash.

DIVISION TWO

Shaun Sager hit a hat-trick for Grainger Park in an exciting 10-goal second division encounter with Newcastle Benfield on the 3G pitch at Blakelaw. Liam Anderson struck twice and Nathan Lowdon got the other with Ben Jefferson also crashing in three times for Benfield Reserves as the game swung from end-to-end. Andrew McBride was also on target.

Chris Marshall was a hat-trick hero for High Howdon in their Friday night encounter at West Allotment Celtic A. Luke Molloy got the other, with Shaun Boyle striking for Celtic.

NORTHUMBERLAND FA LES TODD SENIOR BENEVOLENT BOWL, QUARTER-FINAL

Whitley Bay A beat Wallington 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out after the game had ended goalless to go into the Les Todd Northumberland FA Senior Benevolent Bowl semi-finals. Keeper Michael Hammond saved twice to earn the plaudits.

NORTHUMBERLAND FA MINOR CUP, QUARTER-FINAL

Dean Laycock and Steve McLaughlin fired in for Newcastle Chemfica (Independent) as they secured a spot in the Northumberland FA Minor Cup, Semi-Finals by beating Ponteland United.
