Norton & Stockton Ancients boss Andy Campbell had no grievances over the defeat at Ashington on Saturday – but thought the 4-1 scoreline was cruel on his side.
Campbell, whose outfit had already been relegated, said: “First half I thought we did really well. We created a few chances in the first 25 minutes and were the better side.
“We went one-nil down, which was disappointing, then Ashington came into their own and were really strong, but we finished the half well by getting the equaliser.
“I was hoping for us to kick on but unfortunately Ashington were pretty strong second half and although we had a decent spell we just could not get that second goal.
“Ashington missed a lot of chances as well but I thought the 4-1 scoreline was a bit harsh on us in the end.
“The lads are giving their all and are still trying, but I’m already planning for next season and players are playing for their places if they want to stay at the club.”
