Old Stars get a Whipping

THERE is a Real scrap for top spot in the first division of the MB Socca Leagues’ Thursday night football at the Hirst Welfare Centre in Ashington.

Real Ashington are still on top after they rattled three goals past third placed Station Boys to win 3-0.

But there is only two goals separating them and V & N Jewellers who again showed their credentials by beating Multiple Scoregasms 5-1.

The final game in the top flight saw ACE United record a 3-0 victory over Sparta Hatbreath.

Performance of the night was undoubtedly by second division leaders The Whipping Boys, who scored some clinical goals as they put seven past Ashington Old Stars with none in reply to stay four points clear at the top.

Red Devils lead the chase and their goal difference is a massive plus-26 as they too found their shooting boots to beat Ashington All Stars 6-0.

The final game was an even contest and nobody could find the killer goal as Newsham and Station FC played out a 2-2 draw.

With the leagues at the halfway stage there is scope for further teams to join and there is one vacancy at present.
