Ashington’s Dylan Williamson said it is a case of ‘onwards and upwards’ for the revitalised Woodhorn Lane outfit after his sizzling hat-trick inside the opening half hour on Saturday laid the foundations for their biggest league win of the season.
The 24-year-old took his tally to five and has now scored in three consecutive matches with his goals in Saturday’s 6-0 win.
And he believes that they can go through the rest of the season unbeaten.
With four wins on the bounce they have gone from being second bottom of the form table to fourth top.
Williamson said: “Since I joined everything has been great.
“I’ve really enjoyed it and the way we are playing I still think we can go through to the end of the campaign unbeaten.
“Hopefully from a personal point of view I can finish this season well and start next season strong too.”
The winger said he has never fired a quicker treble.
“Two of the goals were tap-ins, and then I took one around the keeper,” he said.
“Whatever the situation, though, it’s nice to see the ball hit the back of the net and I was happy with my finishing.
“This is my fastest ever hat-trick and naturally I’m delighted.”
Williamson, who also had a hand in Ashington’s fourth, added: “We started the game well. We had the wind on our backs in the first half so we were looking to score a few goals and we just took control.
“As far as I’m concerned, it’s onwards and upwards from here.”
