DESPITE the devastating blow of losing the game 1-0 in added time, Blyth Spartans boss Tom Wade found many positives in his side’s performance against North Ferriby on Easter Monday.

“We battled hard and kept our shape very well,” he said.

“Plus, against a top side like them, you have to be in the game all the time.

“Our work rate was good and we were solid.

“In the first half they had chances but we had the better possession.

“Throughout the game neither side created much but we deserved to get a draw.

“I’m proud of the lads who have been through a lot in the last week.”

Wade praised returning goalkeeper Connor Grant who made some brave saves to keep his side in the contest.

“Connor did very well,” Wade commented.

“He produced the goods when called upon.

“Actually all the lads did well and Jordan Mellish, coming back in to the side, impressed. He’s got the shirt now and needs to keep it.”

An own goal by defender Wayne Buchanan gave the visitors the three points.

The Spartans manager hopes to have Robbie Dale back for Saturday’s home game against Worksop.

Dale had to leave the pitch at Ilkeston on Saturday with concussion.
