BLYTH Rangers Under-14s Deportivo progressed to the next round of the League Cup with a 7-1 victory over Prudhoe Town.

Rangers had a couple of early chances with Jack Bell going close and then Phoenix Telfer seeing his shot hit the post before Prudhoe deservedly took the lead in the 19th minute.

This put some urgency into the Blyth play and this led to an equaliser four minutes later.

Jordan Hall crossed from the right and Reece Halliday scored from close range.

Barely a minute later Hall was on hand to score following a knock on by Shane Clough to put Rangers ahead.

Then Liam Thomson crossed for Telfer to wriggle past a couple of challenges before placing the ball into the corner to make it 3-1, which is how it stayed until half-time.

Hall crossed from the right again for Halliday to score with a well placed header for the fourth Rangers goal, and then almost straight from the kick-off Blyth were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Prudhoe box and Telfer superbly placed his shot into the top corner to make it 5-1.

Rangers keeper Alex Cockburn was called into action to make a couple of excellent saves as Prudhoe desperately tried to reduce the arrears.

However, at the other end Hall closed the Prudhoe keeper down and scored from close range to bag his second and Rangers’ sixth.

The final goal of the game followed a free kick from man of the match Telfer, who picked out Jamie Worton in the box and his header went into the bottom corner to make the final score 7-1.
