Durham Youth League leaders Seaham Red Star will play Darlington Youth in this year’s Lady Eden Cup final after defeating New Hartley in a thrilling nine-goal semi final.
It was the Wearsiders that opened the scoring through Josh Houghton, but a great strike from Hartley’s Tom Potter made it all square just minutes later.
It was then Hartley’s turn to go in front when a goalkeeping error allowed Adam Bains to score.
Seaham then scored two before the break through Jake Orwell and substitute Jordan Mole to make it 3-2 at half-time.
After the break Jak Ditchburn slotted home for Hartley to make it 3-3.
With tired legs starting to show on both sides, Seaham sent on another two subs with both of them scoring. Dom Soulsby put them 4-3 in front before John Corner made it 5-3.
Time was against Hartley, and although they did pull one back five minutes from time through Nik Jarvis Smith to make it 5-4, Seaham hung on to progress into the final.
