Blyth Spartans’ summer transfer activity is under way as six of last season’s squad have committed themselves to the club for the new season.

Captain Robbie Dale was among the names to agree another deal, alongside five of the club’s younger players who all received call-ups to an England C representative squad last season.

Defender Danny Parker, midfielders Lewis Horner, Arran Wearmouth and Matthew Wade and top scorer Dan Maguire have all agreed to commit to another season at Croft Park.

A move manager Tom Wade has hailed as “a fantastic start to our squad building”.

The boss added that he is hopeful of more positive news in the coming days.

He said: “The six lads committing to the club for the new season is a fantastic start to our squad building.

“We know we need to strengthen so we can give ourselves the best possible chance of improving on last year’s progress, and that is something we are working on every day.

As well as this we have to look after the players who gave us so much last season.

“We are hopeful of making more progress in the coming days.”
