Blyth Spartans midfielder Matthew Wade revelled in the impressive win over title chasing Skelmersdale United.
A goal in each half won the game for the Croft Park outfit with Robbie Dale and Dan Maguire getting on the scoresheet to maintain Spartans play-off push, something Wade feels they are more than capable of continuing as the run in approaches.
“It was a very good win, they are certainly know pushovers being second in the league and we have done well to win the game,” he said.
“It just shows that we can beat the top teams, so it doesn’t matter who comes here to Croft Park or who we play away we will give them a game, there’s no reason why we can’t sneak into the play-offs.”
It’s been a good week for former Washington midfielder Wade.
Wednesday brought the news that he had received an England C call up alongside team-mates Lewis Horner, Maguire and Nathan Buddle.
Wade described the call-up as an real honour ahead of their game with a Northern League XI.
“It’s a real honour to be called up alongside some top players and for such a prestige game.
“I’m sure it will be a great occasion and I’m looking forward to it already.”
