BLYTH Spartans Under-15s overcome windy conditions to beat Morpeth 4-2.
With so much to play for, both teams entered the contest in determined mood and in a frantic start and playing with the wind, Blyth spurned a few early chances.
In a surprise turn of events Morpeth broke and crossed to take a shock 1-0 lead.
However, as the mark of a team that have title ambitions, Blyth never allowed their heads to drop and were soon on levels terms through the in-form Luke Watson.
Blyth’s second quickly followed after impressive team play as the ever hard-working man of the match Liam Wall was on target.
As the first half drew to an end, Blyth further cemented their lead with again impressive team work that allowed a recently invigorated James Gillie to score.
Blyth knew they would be under pressure in the second half playing against the wind, however, they coped well and although Morpeth reduced the deficit with around five minutes to go, Blyth had the last say with Luke Watson’s second to take his personal tally to seven and his fourth in three games.
