After signing midfielder Stephen Turnbull late on Monday night, Blyth Spartans added a second new face to their squad less than 24 hours later.
Newcastle United Under-21 striker Jonathyn Quinn arrives at Croft Park on a month long ‘work experience’ loan and is already familiar with his new surroundings having featured in a pre-season fixture between the two clubs in August.
Three months earlier the Ashington born forward was on the scoresheet in the Northumberland Senior Cup Final as the St James’ Park club lifted the trophy with a 4-0 win over Tom Wade’s side.
Quinn – who celebrated his 19th birthday last week – made his Magpies Academy debut in April 2012 against Middlesbrough before making the step up to under-21 level in January 2013 at Reading.
A month later he found the net with a goal against Stoke City Under-21s.
January 2014 was a memorable month for the striker as he struck a hat-trick at St James’ Park in a 4-0 FA Youth Cup win over Sunderland.
Quinn is in line to play some part in the training game against Seaton Delaval at Croft Park tonight. Kick-off is 7.30pm.
