Colliers’ ‘chorus master’ Mark Fitton hopes the Ashington supporters will be in good voice on Wednesday night when the Colliers meet Whitley Bay in the final of the Northumberland Senior Cup at St James’ Park.
Fitton, 29, who has supported the Wansbeck club from the age of nine, said: “The priority for our fans on the night will be to give the players as much vocal support as possible – and when there is any occasion, I don’t think anybody does it better than the Ashington fans.
“Certainly, we’ll not relent, we’ll be singing from the first whistle until the last, and whilst we’ll be doing our best in the East stand, we hope at the same time that the players will be doing the business on the pitch.
“There will be a number of buses leaving Woodhorn Lane to go to the game and once again the supporters club are keeping prices as low as possible for as many people who wish to go, charging £4 for members and £5 for non members return travel.”
The first bus will leave at 5pm with a second – and any subsequent buses – at 5.30pm.
Anyone interested in making the trip should contact Mark on 07735 546522 to book a seat.
He added: “We have come a long way as a football club over the last few years and it would be fantastic if we could win a bit of silverware.”
