NEW Hartley Juniors played their first game since the death of long serving secretary John Maley at the weekend, and both sides observed a minute’s silence before the kick off.

The home side took the lead on 15 minutes thanks to a spectacular own goal from 20 yards out.

Bret Daley then made it 2-0 and makeshift striker Will Deddes made it 3-0 before the break.

Grindon started to hit back after the interval, forcing keeper Sean Paige into some fine saves while also hitting the post.

But Lewis Evans wrapped things up for New Hartley in the closing stages to make it 4-0.
