BEDLINGTON Terriers FC kick-off their new season at Welfare Park this weekend with promotion in their sights.
Speaking before the opening game against South Shields, club chairman David Holmes said: “If we can finish in the top two, I think we would take promotion.
“We’ve strengthened in the right places and up front I think we’re strong, and are definitely going to challenge this season.
“We’ve scored a lot of goals in pre-season and we need to hit the ground running.”
After signing a whole host of new players, high expectations have been placed upon both the team and the club to deliver.
He added: “It’s good having this pressure placed upon us, and I’m sure we can definitely deliver this season.
“There’s been a lot of changes on and off the pitch, all for the better for Bedlington Terriers.”
With new signings Dean Douglas, Steven Richardson, Tommy English and a whole host of others expected to feature it is a new beginning for the club.
Kick-off on Saturday at Welfare Park is 3pm, with ticket prices £5 for adults, £2 for concessions and £1 for under 16s.
This month Bedlington Terriers Supporters Club will launch a ‘Golden Ticket’ scheme.
The club will head into the area’s schools offering children the opportunity to win a Golden Ticket which will allow them to attend a game of their choice free of charge with an accompanying adult.
