FINAL preparations are under way this week for Bedlington Terriers FC as they prepare to head on a pre-season tour to the USA.

Flying out from Heathrow, the party of 30 will be playing fixtures against Niagara United on Tuesday, June 28, for the Lord Bedlington Cup, and on Wednesday, June 29, as well as hospital visits, training clinics, visiting local dignitaries and a trip to the Niagra Falls attraction.

The week will be rounded off with a visit to Coca-Cola Field, home of Minor League baseball side Buffalo Bisons, where they face their bitter rivals the Syracuse Chiefs in the 17th Annual Independence Eve Celebration event.

This event will see chairman David Holmes pitching the first ball of the game.

Meanwhile the team will be wearing their new 2011-12 home strip for both matches, which was officially launched last weekend.

Whilst making preparations for their trip, the club have also been strengthening their squad for the forthcoming Northern League season, announcing the signing of striker Steven Richardson from Spennymoor on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Craig Pickering has also signed from North Shields to give competition to Kevin Morton.
