Three former Cramlington Juniors Football Club players have been awarded scholarships by Newcastle United.

Dan Lowther, Nathan Harker and Craig Spooner were all at Cramlington Juniors and would have been part of their successful U16’s team if they had not been snapped up by the Premier League club.

U16’s manager Michael Storey coached all three during their time with the club and is delighted to see them do so well.

“The club are extremely proud of the boys’ achievements,” he said.

“All three were an absolute pleasure to work with and their getting scholarships is a fitting reward for their dedication.

“We wish them every success in the future.”

Cramlington Juniors chairman Michael Cairns added: “For one boys’ club to be responsible for providing three scholars in one year group; that shows that the club’s philosophy and ability to develop potential professional players of the future is definitely on the right tracks.”
