V & N go top as strong winds can’t help Real Ash

DESPITE gale force winds the Thursday night MB Socca six-a-side leagues at the Hirst Centre in Ashington went ahead with some exciting football and shock results.

In division one leaders Real Ash took on second placed V & N Jewellers.

The game was full of action but V & N produced a shock result as they beat the reigning champions 4-0.

Sparta Hatbreath were beaten by close rivals Multiple Scoregasms in the game of the night by the odd goal in nine.

The game was end to end and Multiple came from two down to win 5-4.

The final game in the top division saw Station Boys earn a 3-0 win over Base FC.

For the division two games the wind grew more fierce, as cones flew and the three referees battled to keep the football flowing.

Newsham beat Ashington Old-Stars 2-1 and leaders The Whipping Boys only managed a 1-1 draw against Lofty’s Ashington All-stars.

Ashington had their keeper Morland to thank as he pulled of a magnificent save in the last minute to keep the scores level.

The final game, despite the horendeous conditions, was an end to end classic and Red Devils took the three points with a 4-3 win over Station FC.
