Once again the weather took its toll on the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck fixture list.

Burradon and New Fordley’s NFA Sunday Cup game was again called off and will be played Sunday, weather permitting.

In the premier division, Ashington Grand and Blyth High Street produced a seven-goal thriller as Street won 4-3. Goals for Grand came from Michael Todd (2) and Damien Stevens, but an Anthony Goldie hat-trick and goal from Anthony Marshall won it.

There was only two games played in division one. FC Beacon have turned the corner after a poor start to the season and they took the points in their home game against Blyth Waterloo SC with the only goal scored by Ian Marsh.

Ashington Excelsior’s dismal run continues as they went down away 5-0 against much improved Stakeford Cherry Tree. The game was over by half-time with a four-goal burst from Ashley Duff. Joe Wells completed the scoring in the second half.
