West Allotment Celtic have appointed Jon McDonald as manager following the departure of Paul Stoneman.

McDonald comes with a wealth of Northern League experience having spent time at Bedlington Terriers and most recently was assistant manager at Morpeth Town for a number of years.

The new manager will be looking to draw upon this experience as Allotment look to push on in the Northern League division one this season.

“I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to manage a club like West Allotment and can’t wait to get started,” he said.

He will be assisted by coaches Andy Wright, a Sunderland FC academy coach, and Richie Mitchell, vice-chairman and coach at Killingworth YPC.

Allotment’s players seem buoyed by the appointment, with captain Ian Dunn being one of the first to commit his future to the club for next season.

Their first league game of the season which will be away to Durham City.
