GARY Middleton admitted his Ashington CFC side had not fired on all cylinders despite their 1-0 victory over Ryton & Crawcrook Albion in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The manager said: “I thought it was an important cup tie that we won even though we did not play particularly well over the 90 minutes
“We totally controlled the first half but our quality in the final third was not the greatest.
“They (Ryton) huffed and puffed in the second half but I thought we were comfortable for our one-nil victory, to be fair.
“In truth, we haven’t played well in our opening three games but we are unbeaten and I think that’s a positive.
“We were always looking to do better than we have done but overall I’m quite happy.”
