Woodhorn Lane Ladies hit double figures in a one-sided match on a freezing afternoon at the Hirst Welfare including hat-tricks by Emma Ginger and Laura Jobson.
Rebecca Caldow rattled the bar and Megan Tighe had a shot well saved by keeper Gemma Myhill before Ashington took the lead in the 12th minute when Jobson’s shot slipped through Myhill’s hands.
However, the keeper made up for her mistake with good saves from Caldow, Tighe and Sarah Bennett.
Ginger struck from the edge of the box to make it 2-0 and minutes before half-time Tighe stroked in the third.
Jobson and Murphy went close before Karen Wright picked up a loose ball and slid home in her first appearance of the season and Tighe slotted in to make it five.
With Ashington completely dominating the game it was no surprise when Ginger scored from a well struck shot from close range for number six, Jobson dispatched a powerful low shot past Myhill for the seventh and minutes later scored the goal of the game with a stunning 25-yard shot.
Bennett tapped in then Ginger completed the scoring with her third, hitting a well struck shot for the tenth.
On Sunday Ashington Woodhorn Lane Ladies are away to Blakelaw Ladies.
