YOHAN Cabaye will return to the Newcastle United starting XI at Selhurst Park – leaving one player facing the axe.

Cabaye sat out Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Southampton through suspension.

And United manager Alan Pardew will have “no hesitation” in starting the midfielder against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Cabaye’s return could be at the expense of Vurnon Anita.

But that would be harsh on Anita, who has impressed this season.

Pardew could instead reshuffle his team to accommodate the pair.

Cabaye, pictured, and Anita started the club’s win over Manchester United, with striker Shola Ameobi having dropped down to the bench at Old Trafford.

“There won’t be much of a decision to make about Cabaye,” Pardew told the Gazette.

“He plays, for me. We need that. We need that flair and quality he brings.

“I’ll have no hesitation putting him back in the team. Unfortunately, someone will have to step out.”

Cabaye – who scored Newcastle’s winner at Old Trafford – has been an increasingly influential figure for United since drawing a line under the events of late August, when he attempted to force through a move to Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Anita is wary of relegation-threatened Palace, who have won their two home games under new manager Tony Pulis.

“We have won a lot of matches, and the spirit is very good,” said the 24-year-old.

“But we must keep it up, work hard and the next game, hopefully we win.

“I think it will be tougher than this game because they need the points and so do we. It will be a hard game.”

n NEWCASTLE’s FA Cup tie third-round against Cardiff at St James’s Park will be played on Saturday, January 4 (3pm kick-off).

The televised Premier League home game against Aston Villa has been put back to Sunday, February 23 (1.30pm).
