NEW Hartley Juniors made history as they beat Walker 1-0 in the NFA Junior Cup final at the Blue Flames ground.
Having equalled their own record by winning it three years in a row last year, New Hartley have now claimed the trophy for a fourth concective season, a feat never been achieved before.
The game itself brought few chances in a match that was spoilt by high winds.
With the score goalless at the break, Hartley came out for the second half the better side and hit the post as they looked to open the scoring.
The deadlock was finally broken eight minites from time when Danny Young raced clear to slot under the Walker keeper.
This was Hartley’s second trophy so far this season and last night (Wednesday) they were are at home to Ryhope CW in the Sunderland Eye Infirmary Cup semi-final, kick-off 6.30pm.
The winners will play Gateshead this coming Saturday in the final at Nissan’s ground in Sunderland.
