Heavy rain hampers Bedlington bid for runners-up spot

Heavy overnight rain meant that Bedlington’s first XI game at Greenside was cancelled at 9.30am on Saturday, giving both teams five points each.

Unfortunately, this was the only game in the division not to get played, enabling Newcastle City the opportunity to close the gap on second placed Bedlington to seven points with two games to play.

Bedlington host Morpeth this Saturday while City travel to Percy Main, who beat Lintz to almost certainly guarantee promotion and the league trophy.

The final game of the season sees Bedlington travel to City in what could be an intriguing finale.

This week Matty Tanney makes his comeback from a toe injury to replace Chris Pearson who returns to second team duty.
