Abeergut toast their success

IN the MB Socca Leagues, Thursday night action resumed despite snow being heavy in other parts of the north.

The Ashington 3G surface at the Hirst Centre was in excellent condition and the penultimate week of the season was played in divisions one and two.

Division one commenced and already crowned champs Real Ash saw off Ashington All-Stars 5-1 as Tony’s men look for some competition next season as the titles are getting repetitive.

Division two then took centre stage and Sporting Abeergut, now named AFC Newbiggin, only required a point going into the last game against Station FC.

They came out 5-2 winners in the end and sealed a great season.

New strips along with a new name left manager Karl as proud as punch.

Ace United took on Bubbles, who were after the runners-up spot. The game ended 3-2 to Bubbles as they sealed second place with a game to go.

MB Socca Leagues are to merge divisions one and two to form a premier division.

There is room for more teams, so call 07891 321753 or 07921 620308 to register.

The leagues are FA Affiliated and qualified referees officiate.

There will be monthly prizes along with trophies for winners and runners-up.

A cup night is also planned in 2013.
