Ashington Ladies stay at the top

ASHINGTON Ladies remain on top of the Women’s Northumberland Ladies League after a win at Bedlington Town on Sunday.

The Angels were without leading scorer Karen Wright and Kristie Fenwick but took the lead on ten minutes.

Corrie Murphy’s pass to Rebecca Caldow saw her rifle past Tasker in the home goal.

Five minutes later Georgia Latto scored a second before Bedlington came into the game and Laura Powell twice denied Trewick.

Ashington extended their lead with two well taken goals by Stacey Naples and skipper Danielle Clasper.

In the second half Ashington were awarded a penalty as Jess Hooper was brought down and Clasper made no mistake.

Bedlington then had a penalty of their own with Brown making it 6-1.

Latto added a seventh for Ashington and just before the end Brown netted her second to make the final score 7-2.

Ashington Ladies: Powell, Bolton, Sayer, Hogg, Kavanagh, Murphy, Jobson, Latto, Caldow, Tighe, Clasper. Subs: Hooper, Ginger, Gowland, Naples, Duff.
