Colliers open pre-season with a draw

ASHINGTON Colliers drew their opening friendly match 3-3 against Prudhoe Town, members of the Wearside League, on the Hirst Welfare 3G pitch last week.

Marc Richardson, David Brown and Mark Hyman were the goalscorers for the hosts with manager David Brown particularly impressed with the performance by Hyman – one of five newcomers.

Hyman, who lives at Amble, has just turned 17 and also plays for Ashington Under-19s.

“He looks a good prospect and plays on the shoulder of the back man,” said Brown.

The manager’s other new arrivals included Ritchie Brown, Ashley Smyth, Curtis Taylor and Gary Bailes.
