Early kick-offs for Ashington
ASHNGTON CFC’s next two scheduled matches in the Ebac Northern League’s first division – against defending champions Spennymoor Town and Bedlington Terriers – will both kick-off at 1pm.
Woodhorn Lane football secretary Brian Robson said: “Spennymoor asked for a 1pm start because they have recently had new floodlights installed and this will be the first time that they will switch them on.
“It’s purely to cover in case of any issues with the lights and we have agreed to their request.”
Meanwhile Mr Robson said that the reason for the 1pm kick-off in the derby match against Bedlington Terriers at Woodhorn Lane on Boxing Day was ‘to give supporters every chance’ of watching what should be a cracking encounter.
“Both clubs have mutually agreed on the time,” he said.
“Public transport would not be available for an 11am kick-off but it is for a 1pm start and we want to give supporters the best possible chance to get to the game.”
