Harry's hopes as Spartans prepare for Blackburn - Pictures
PLAYERS and management at Blyth Spartans Football Club held their first ever press conference today at Seaton Delaval Hall.
National media set up microphones and cameras to hear Harry Dunn and other members of the club talk about Monday's FA Cup Third Round tie against premiership Rivals Blackburn Rovers.
It was the first time in the club's history that they have held a press conference ahead of a game, and despite a crucial league match against Gateshead on New Years Day, the talk of the town is the visit from Blackburn on Monday night.
The match will see former Newcastle United boss Sam Allerdyce return to the region, with the majority of football supporters in the North East hopeful of a giant killing which will see the Spartans get closer to repeating the history of the FA Cup run in 1977/78 when they reached round five and played at St. James' Park.
The club, who have the support of the whole town ahead of Monday nights tie, know that their chances are slim, yet still remain hopeful that they could manage a replay down at Ewood Park.
