Hartley make it ten games unbeaten
NEW Hartley Juniors beat the weather to make it ten games unbeaten with a 4-2 win over Brandon United at the weekend.
Having already beaten the visitors last month by a staggering 10-0 scoreline, Saturday’s contest was a much closer encounter.
This time the west Durham side went in front in the first minute when a clearance from the Hartley keeper Barnard fell straight to Brandon striker Michael Hall, who volleyed back into the goal to give the visitors an early lead.
Hartley levelled on 15 minutes with a close range Liam McNamarra header, but moments later Brandon were back in front when another Hall effort appeared to have crossed the line.
A hand ball in the Brandon penalty area saw Hartley awarded a spot kick and Brad McClellend slotted home to make the scoreline 2-2 at the break.
The second half saw Hartley step up a gear and they went in front for the first time with a superb Josh Day strike from outside the box.
Another great strike from winger Sam Norris 4-2 to give Hartley all three points.
This Saturday sees Hartley at home to Ryhope CW with a 1.30pm kick-off.
