YOUNG footballers, many of whom were released by other teams, are celebrating after winning their league.

And Blyth Rangers Oranges Under-9s were given a taste of the highlife to mark their success as they were transported in a limousine to their end of season presentation party.

The young squad won their division in the Lee Championatt League following a successful campaign led by manager Nick Ling and coach Adam Waghorn.

There was also thanks from the club to Kerry Davidson who has helped collect team funds and sorted the kit, and also to Sean White for arranging sponsorship with the Co-op and ST Scaffolding of Cambois.

Before being presented with their trophies and medals at their awards night held in Seaton Delaval Terrace Club, the young players were given an hour-long ride in a limousine afer being picked up at the Spartans Pub in 12th Avenue.

Club member Ian Smith said: “These players were rejected by other clubs but they’ve worked hard last season and again this season.

“Next season they will be moving up to the under-10s and bigger pitches.

“The club will now be looking to add to their current squad.”
