Rangers extend winning streak by putting seven past Ryton

BLYTH Rangers Deportivo maintined their rich vein of form with a comprehensive 7-1 league win over Ryton at the weekend.

Kristian Sands saw his fierce early strike go just over before Ryton took the lead following a long ball over the top which saw the centre forward go round Alex Cockburn in the home goal.

Rangers were struggling to get into the game at this point, although Reece Hogg was unlucky to see his shot go just wide after he had gone round the Ryton keeper.

Out of nothing Rangers got their equaliser just before half-time when Tom Bexton swung a free kick into the box and David Dunworth was on hand to score.

Rangers started the second half better and were rewarded when Liam Thomson made a surging run down the left and his cross was superbly put into the top corner by Jordan Hall.

The lead was doubled a minute later when Bexton played a great ball out of defence and Hall cleverly dinked it past the on-rushing keeper to make it 3-1.

Straight from the kick-off Hall flicked the ball through for Shane Clough who placed a great shot into the top corner to make it 4-1.

Man of the match Sands then scored a fifth with a long range shot and was on hand again shortly afterwards when Dunworth beat the Ryton defence and gave Sands the chance to round the keeper.

The final goal of the contest came again following a cross from Dunworth and this time it was Hall who completed his hat-trick.

The final game of the season is against North Shields in midweek before the team heads off to Haggerston Castle near Berwick for an end of season tournament.
