WOODHORN Lane Over-40s secured three points with a late winner at Philadelphia.
The visitors made a fantastic start when straight from the kick-off Paul Foalle found Scott Fulton who ran into the box, rounded the keeper and slotted home.
However, on the quarter hour mark Lane keeper Steve Carrick pulled down the home centre forward who made no mistake to blast in the equaliser from the resultant penalty.
Within a minute of the second half commencing, Foalle was upended outside the box and Gary Rennison’s header from the free kick went over the bar, then great play inside the area saw Steve Green’s blistering shot smack against the post.
In the 55th minute, Green headed home a cross by Rennison, but Lane were pegged back a second time to 2-2 in the 70th minute.
The Wansbeck outfit clinched victory with seven minutes remaining when an effort from fully 30 yards by Green thudded against the bar with the rebound falling perfectly into the path of Rennison who fired home.
Just before the final whistle, a good break by Rennison saw him find Green who passed to debutant Junior Coultean but he fired wide.
On Saturday, Woodhorn Lane are at home to Pennywell Comrades. Kick-off is 10.30am at Hirst Welfare.
