Young boxer Ryan James Johnson '˜knocked out' with surprise visit by sporting legend Billy Hardy

Young boxer Ryan James Johnson was '˜knocked out' when he was paid a suprise visit by local sorting legend Billy Hardy.

Seven-year-old Ryan, of the Ashington Amatuer Boxing Club, was presneted with an award by Billy, which was secretly arranged by the club’s senior coach Alan Buller.

Ryan had been awarded the Most Dedicated Club Member Trophy, 2016, for his attendance and attitude to the sport, but was unable to attend the official presentation.

So Billy came to the the Hirst Welfare Centre to present Ryan with his trophy and brought his European and Commnowealth belts along as well.

Former British bantamweight and British,European and Commonwealth featherweight champion Billy, is a regular supporter of the Ashington ABC.

Alan said: “Billy has always been available for presentation nights and, for that reason, the coaches, boxers and parents would like to extend their thanks for all he does within the amateur sport in the North-East.”
