Academy team win netball tournament

Bede Academy South were the winners of a Year 5 netball tournament.

TEN netball teams from the Blyth and Bedlington School Sport Programme competed in a tournament at Blyth Sports Centre.

Most of the players had not played competitive netball before.

They played the England Netball modified version of the game where there are five players on a team.

Most schools had at least seven in their squads who rotated positions.

Leaders from New Delaval and Guide Post Middle School acted as team managers.

The teams were divided in to two sections, with winners and runners-up playing in semi finals.

The teams who made the semi finals were Bede Academy South, Croftway, New Delaval and Bedlington Junior High, with Croftway and Bede reaching the final which Bede won.
