SEGHILL RFC were unable to capatalise on the confidence gained from last week’s home win when they travelled down to Hartlepool for a Durham and Northumberland division three match.
Without any substitutes, and with a huge weight disadvantage in the pack, Seghill were aways going to struggle, though they did dominate for periods of the game, and the backs produced some lovely passing rugby.
Centre Jake Armstrong got all 12 of Seghill’s points, taking his total for the season so far to 94.
He scored a try early in the first half and converted his second try towards the end of the game.
The Hartlepool pack were able to drive the home side deep into Seghill territory almost at will, and although Nick Heard did hold up one try early in the second half, a penalty try was awarded and second row Andy Moffatt was sin binned for killing the ball at the resulting scrum.
