Despite only being formed less than two years ago, Blyth High Jump Academy enjoyed unprecedented success at the recent North East Counties Indoor Championships that took place at Gateshead.

In the U13 girls’ competition, Evie Perrett, who competes for North Shields Poly, overcame nerves to comfortably win the competition with a 1.30m clearance and maintain her unbeaten indoor season in the north east.

Meanwhile, Ellie Morris, who competes for Blyth Running Club and has been training with the academy since its inception, won the U15 girls’ competition with a stunning 1.58m clearance, which was a huge personal best and ranks her third in the UK and first in the north of England.

Blyth High Jump Academy meets every Thursday at 6pm at Bede Academy and is run by Blyth Running Club.

Cost of a session is £2 and it is open to all young athletes with a desire to work hard and progress in school Year 5 or above, regardless of experience.

No affiliation to any running club is necessary. Contact UK Athletics qualified coach Daniel Njai on 07725 634387 or email d-bradley-njai@hotmail.co.uk for further details.
