Cramlington Rockets have come out on top in the country when it comes to selling Community Raffle Tickets.
A final total of 2,523 put the club 128 tickets clear of the next best seller meaning it had first choice of the various club prizes.
The prize chosen was a full set of match strips by England kit provider BLK worth £1,200.
With 30% of all ticket sales going to the sport’s benevolent charity, Rugby League Cares, the club has also raised £756.90 for the charity.
There was one member of the Rockets Family amongst the main prize winners with Maureen Cowie winning a £500 travel voucher after buying a ticket from her grandson, U14 Elliot.
Elliot sold 320 tickets and as a result, won the chance to be presented with a signed Newcastle Thunder shirt at a forthcoming match, donated by the Championship 1 club.
Chairman Jeff Ball was thrilled to be the top selling club.
He said: “The money raised will make big difference both to the club and to Rugby League Cares.
“It is important we back charities like this as the help and support they give those in the rugby league family is essential.
“Many do not realise the benefit they provide until they need it, so anything we can do to raise awareness of this brilliant cause is a worthwhile activity.
“The money raised will go towards new equipment and kit for the club’s junior section.
“We make the effort to provide match kit meaning players do not need to buy their own and thus removing a potential barrier to someone playing.
“It is one of the biggest expenses we have so to have a free set of strips is amazing and I know the players will love playing in their brand new BLK kit.”
