THE Blyth Valley Pool Association Superleague, sponsored by Union Private Hire & Goschen Street Garage, is now two months into its second season and with an increased membership of 16 teams.

In a bottom of the table clash, with both teams seeking their first win, Dudley came out victorious 7-5 over Sun Inn B.

Star man for Sun B was Marc Mcteer, registering his first singles and doubles wins on the same night, with excellent support from doubles partner Michael Norris.

The top three teams are now separated by three points. Leaders Joiners Arms A came back from the Brockwell Seam with a 10-2 win which saw them open a two-point lead over the Bedlington Station.

Neil Taylor’s break and dish was then followed by another clearance in the scotch doubles from Alan Parker and Julian Slater. Top player for Brockwell was Tom Beal, winning both his singles.

Joiners Arms B played host to second placed Bedlington Station, and in a hard fought game Station came away with a 8-4 victory. Mark McCann starred as he won both his singles.

Percy Arms, led by team captain Kevin McGarry, continue to keep pace with the top two after an impressive 11-1 victory over Newsham Side Club.

Fourth placed Annitsford Irish put a depleted Seahorse B team to the sword with a comfortable 9-3 win.

Man of the match was Chris Gill with two break and dishes. Seahorse debutant Lee Holdsworth made a winning start to his BVPA season.

Moving up to fifth after an 8-4 win over an improving Seaton Terrace is Comrades Club B, who have overtaken their A team with a game in hand. Undoubted star on the night was Rob Storey with a great break and dish.

Aside from Dudley’s first win, the other highlight of the night was a surprise 8-4 victory for Seahorse A over a strong Comrades Club A. Seahorse, led by team captain Kevin Barker, moved above their B team into seventh place.

In the final game of the night, Sun Inn A completed their second win of the season with a 9-3 victory over Cramlington Village Club. David Bradford’s team are now closing the gap on a number of others above them.

The BVPA will be ratifying a new chairman at the next monthly meeting.
