Blyth Running Club held the second race in their Summer Cup, a series of six 2.5-mile races using the promenade and beach path.

More than 50 runners competed in the warm and breezy conditions, with the race being won by Erin Scott, who had only recently become eligible to take part after turning 14-years-old.

She won by more than 40 seconds from Leanne Davies with John Mallon in third, a further 20 seconds adrift. Leanne had won the first race, but improved her time by nearly two minutes.

Fastest male was Jake Jansen in 13:56 and fastest female was Charlie Hedley with 15:40, both running faster than in the first race.

The next race is on Wednesday, July 17, start time 7.15pm.

Blyth Juniors also had a presentation for their Junior Personality of the Year, awarded to Josh Fiddaman, who in 2012 won all his age group races in the Cross Country Races and won the club’s junior handicap.

Josh was presented with his trophy by Craig Birch, who was recently voted the British Athletics Young Official of The Year.
