Blyth Running Club held the third race in their Summer Cup, a series of seven 2.5-mile races on a route using the promenade and beach path.
A total of 47 runners were up against hot, sunny conditions with a cooling sea breeze as Ewa Johnson, first runner away, led from start to finish, beating Chris Laidlow by 20 seconds with Heather Barrass a further five seconds adrift.
Chris worked his way through the field as he recorded the fastest time on the night with 13:56, Judith Nutt was fastest female in 15:42. Eighteen runners recorded season’s best times.
The next race is Wednesday, July 31, start time 7.15pm and is open to all club members aged 14 and over.
Blyth Running Club are well established as one of the leading clubs in the area and as well as the running they also arrange various social nights/activities.
