A youngster is making waves in the martial arts world after earning a black belt.

Chloe Flannaghan only took up karate in 2009 but has already worked her way up to the black belt.

The ten-year-old performs Hung Sao Do freestyle karate at her local club in New Hartley but also trains at Bedlington and Forest Hall.

And there was double celebration for Chloe, a pupil at Seaton Sluice Middle School, as he father also earned his black belt at the same time.
